Within the first 8 weeks of school, our scholars have already participated in a number of PE related activities/concepts/units. All students have spent the past few weeks learning about the routines/procedures & safety in the PE learning environment. PK-5th grade students began their first unit with spatial awareness. This concept was taught through various chasing, tagging, & fleeing activities that incorporated a number of loco-motor movement skills; skipping, galloping, hopping, running, etc. Students learned about the function and location of the heart and lungs. PK-2nd grade students then moved on to a throwing and catching unit. Meanwhile, the 3rd-5th grade students were evaluated through a FitnessGram Pre-test to help me evaluate how I could most assist them in reaching the healthy fitness zone for the spring fitness test. Our current unit for the PK-2nd grade students is cooperative play through the utilization of the parachute and scooters. And right now, our 3rd-5th grade students are working through their catching and throwing unit.
